Week #3: Building Begins

We're ready to hit the ground running.

Week 3 has been all about building. We’ve been building our team’s work style and roles, building skills through classes and game brainstorming, and even building our own PCs. Let’s catch you up.

Now that team meetings are rolling, we’re focusing on how to collaborate well, set attainable benchmarks, and keep moving in the same direction. One challenge of starting a studio from scratch is that—for now—our time is entirely volunteer-based. But we believe in the mission and trust this will grow into something great. Even though these aren’t paid roles yet, we’re committed to communicating clearly and building the strongest foundation possible.

This week, everyone on the team took the Working Genius assessment. It was eye-opening to see how our strengths overlap and complement each other. It also gave us a better sense of what kinds of teammates we’ll want to bring in down the road. If you haven’t heard of it, take a peek—it’s worth a look!

At our team meeting, we dove into concept development for our first game. As we continue leveling up through our classes, we’ve made some big creative decisions. We’ve settled on a 3D environment and character style—and our tag players will be robots. Yep, it’s officially getting real. We can’t wait to show you some concept art and sketches in the next newsletter, so stay tuned!

And of course, to bring a game to life, we need computers that can handle serious development tools. If you follow Daniel’s Devlogs (on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram), you’ll start seeing the kinds of programs he’s using. This week, a few team members are building their own PCs from the ground up—and it’s no small feat. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be covering the process on our socials, but here’s a quick look at what it involves:

  • Researching and ordering the right parts

  • Finding creators or YouTubers building something similar

  • Scouring Reddit for the best advice

  • Troubleshooting, racking, and planning for long-term maintenance

We’re making progress every day. Thanks for following along as Studio Steadfast takes shape—we’re glad you’re here.
