Week 2 is upon us, and it’s been all about envisioning what it looks like to build a game development studio from the ground up.
First of all—thank you to everyone who has reached out. We’ve received so much support, and many old and new connections have shown genuine interest in this project. We’ve officially started building a team to make it happen! We're also drafting our mission statements, outlining our goals for a Christ-honoring work environment, and identifying the skills we need to learn through classes and other resources. And finally—we’ve officially started brainstorming the first game we plan to publish as a studio. Once we’ve hammered out a few more details, we’ll be sharing concept art and more game specifics!
After many meetings and conversations throughout this first full week, we’ve come to a really exciting realization: Studio Steadfast is slowly growing into a group project as we recognize how many people believe in the mission behind it. Right now, we have a faithful and talented group of friends working through the logistics of getting the studio—and our first game—off the ground. Each person brings different giftings, and it’s been exciting to watch it all come together.
This week’s main focus was connecting with people who’ve shown interest in the vision. We even held the very first Studio Steadfast Team Meeting! Going forward, these newsletters will include sneak peeks of the brainstorming and creative process that happens during those meetings. But for this first week, our primary goal was to align on our core goals and mission statements as a team.
We have a strong vision for where the studio is heading, and we want to steward that well. As a group, we’re praying through and writing out our mission and goals. This is not only a crucial step before we start work on branding and logo design—it’s the foundation we want to be guided by as we grow. We’ve summarized what we’ve worked through so far on our website. If you have time, take a look HERE, and let us know what you think! We’ll be refining the wording over the next few weeks, and we’d love to hear your thoughts.
We’ve also started working through game development classes to help us create a strong first game. The team is diving into a variety of topics including 3D game development, third-person combat and traversal, 3D modeling, sound design, music, and more.
Now for the fun part—the skeleton and early concept for our very first game!
In many ways, starting a game studio rooted in biblical values feels like preparing for a race—one we want to run with endurance and purpose.
1 Corinthians 9:24–26 says:
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.”
This passage reflects our broader journey—but it’s also the direct inspiration for our first game. This week, our team decided to begin work on a game loosely inspired by World Chase Tag competitions. If you’ve never seen one before, take a moment to check out some highlights HERE.
It’s fun, fast-paced, and rooted in a simple concept. It also brings together many of the skills our team is developing, and we believe it could be something really special when brought to life. We’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas, or questions! Over the next few weeks, we’ll start to leak some artwork and game content as development continues.
So there you have it—Week 2 in a nutshell.
Thanks again for being here. We’re so grateful for your support and your interest in walking with us through this journey.
Until next time.
